On
this movie there is no curses, exorcising or horrific demons, only psychological
terror. And this produce a true fear that you can really feel by a person who
wants to kill.
The Shining is a cult movie based
on the novel written by the great horror master Stephen King. The best of this
film in my opinion is the spectacular performance by Jack Nicholson and Shelley
Duval, but specially Nicholson, he act as John a father who accepts a job to be
a keeper for a hotel in the mountains in
the off-season, he also can bring his family to this hotel, his wife Wendy and
his son Danny., later in the movie John starts to hallucinate, and starts to go
mad, and later he attack his family, and I think that its one of the greatest
thing of this movie, showing how the personality of Jack suffers a lot of
changes, from a good father and husband
to a total madness, and every day its
worse trying to kill his own wife and even his son, because an hallucination
told him and how this wife try to save his son and herself, and how this role
actually affect Shelley Duval mental health, because she needed psychiatric
help after the interpretation.
On the other hand, I want to
highlight the performance of Shelley Duval playing as Wendy. Even though has
hated his character because she was always frightened and a submissive woman
doing all the tasks of the hotel that her husband had to do, but I also felt
his fear to the depths, I also read that in the scene when she is going
backwards on the stairs threatening jack with a baseball bat, it was real reacting,
his fear was real, not acted. According to what I read, the Director (Stanley
Kubrick) used various techniques to achieve a great realism in the scenes, I
felt how Wendy trespassed me his fear to be killed by their husband.
Finally, I there is many awesome scenes of this
film however, there is a scene that I must say it’s one the best things I've
seen in my life. The scene of the wave of blood that comes out from the elevator
and floods the whole corridor. A cult scene on this great movie.
